First Day in Gurney Plaza’s New Wing
Written by Nicholas Chan on November 24, 2008 – 12:02 am -This was actually long time ago, in fact this was on last Saturday. I was thinking to be the first to step into the Gurney Plaza’s new wing, but then due to myself having something to do in the morning, I moved my visit to the new wing to noon time.
After so many months of constructing, it’s finally opened with not-so-many new shops and it’s rather small but I like it.
They have added 4 levels of car park. It’s actually the 5th and 6th floor was the parking floor but it’s not 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th floors are parking now. I would say it’s better to have more shoplots than parking.
Even though there’s new brand, but most of them are in Parkson departmental stores. It is now has 3 floors and it’s a bit like a maze in it now because when you are at the new wing of Parkson, there’s 3rd floor but no ground floor, but at the old wing of Parkson there’s no 3rd floor but has ground floor.
My favourite shop in Gurney Plaza is the Switch, Apple Store. I will pay a visit to this shop everytime I go to Gurney and play with the Macs. The new Switch is big but the one in Bangkok is cooler.
A new street fashion store has pop up in town and it’s Paranoid on the third floor of the new wing. Ignore Kenny on the 2nd picture. They do sell Bearbricks and brands like CLOT, Bathing Ape, Subcrew, X-Large, but don’t know is original or not. Pricing are not cheap, mostly are over 100 Ringgit except some caps.
There’s now 3 Japanese restaurants in the mall, Jurin Express (a fast food I guess because of the Express wording, Jurin is actually a Japanese restaurant at Pulau Tikus), Sushi King and Sakae Sushi.
When I have done walking around the mall. It’s time to check out the toilet. Haha. Well, it sucks. The main reason why it sucks because there’s no paper in the toilet, so when have to bring your own tissue paper into it. Most new mall are using sensoring tab, but this is not, though this is not a big matter. Tissue paper in toilet is very important, when I go shopping in Singapore, most of the toilet in their mall have paper, that’s just so nice.
At one time on last Saturday, the shops on the 3rd floor got no electricity, all turn darks and we were forced to go out, but that’s just for a short time.
Traffic jam has been all around Gurney Drive for the last weekend and this weekend. This made me hard to travel out because I live near that area. Anyway, I love the new wing.
