Boring Forum on Wireless @ Penang

Written by Nicholas Chan on November 11, 2008 – 7:04 pm -

Penang State Government is installing Wifi spot all over of Penang in the next 15 months and in the mean time, RedTone will be the service provider for WiMax wireless broadband and data connection in Penang. I strongly support this project but the only problem is, there’s people concern about this project which will affect the health.

So, the State Government and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) organized a forum for the concern one to discuss about this project. I went to take a look what they were talking about. I don’t really know the way around KOMTAR, but at last I found my way to the DOME (up the elevator beside (KFC).

Unfortunately, this forum dissapointed me, the way the speaker speaks, the topic were so noob and it’s all available on the Wikipedia. Forum venue was a also a lousy place, the DOME KOMTAR is very ugly in the inside, no one willing to renew it, redesign it, it’s just so unprofessional.

Talks were mostly on the cell transmission tower and what is wifi, what is wimax.

There’s around 100 attendees. A lot of spaces. Mostly who attended were the one from the NGO who opposed this project. I found the speaker very uninteresting, noobish, and I made my way out before everything ended.

The only thing good is there was free food during a short break. =)
