H-Factor Creative Youth Workshop at G Hotel
Written by Nicholas Chan on October 17, 2008 – 1:17 am -I wonder if you guys ever heard of the H Factor Creative Youth Workshop? It’s a workshop for the youth specially brought to you by the local TV Host ala hot model Miss Hannah Tan. I didn’t know about it until a friend of mine told me about it. Hannah Tan and team did actually go to schools (SMK schools) to promote it but not our school, I think it’s because we speaks mandarin, it’s a English speaking workshop afterall.
Held at the G Hotel’s ballroom. As far as I know, registration through school which Hannah Tan had visited is RM10 and for me, it’s RM30. I paid RM30 for it and hoping I could learn some stuff and yes I did (and had fun too).
Woke up early in the Sunday morning and got myself to G Hotel. I’ve already saw a lot of people there when I arrived. I have go to the ticket counter to exchange my ticket with the e-ticket I printed out (I bought mine online with MOL). Proceeded into the waiting area and greatly, there’s breakfast, sandwiches, cakes and coffee.
I guess there’s approximately 500 people or perhaps more. College students were more than high school’s student. Surprisingly, we (me, Alvin Yang, Andy, Liang Sun and Simon) were the only one from Chung Ling High School. It’s all English speaking people and a lot of Chinese bananas.
Camera is not allowed during the workshop. I was OK with that because I’ve paid RM30 not for shooting but to listen to the speakers and get to know something from them. Hence, I’ve let my camera down for a rest a day.
Speaking about the speakers, first out were Mix FM DJs, Serena C and Pietro to talk about how can one be a DJ.
During the interval, Hannah Tan came up and talked a little bit on TV hosting for a short time. Then next up was Reymee from the band Innuendo talked on singing. Followed by Hans Isaac, a local film director and actor talked about acting. Next was lunch break!
Love eating, there’s sandwhiches again, fried bee hoon and also some cakes. I met Alex during the short lunch break and take some photographs with my friends.
And that’s the only 5 Chung Ling boys (Mandarin-speaking) at this English-speaking function.
Played around with the camera because next speaker was up to the stage.
Next up was Joey Khor from Hue Visual Labs who talked about motion graphics and animation. His body tattoo amazed me, he is not a gangster but a cute motion graphic designer.
(Harith Iskander and us)
Then the funny one came on stage, Harith Iskander who can really make fun out of anything. For the first time, I know what is a stand up comedian and he is the famous one. He jokes but he don’t laugh, that’s the best part.
(David Lai and us)
David Lai, the mentalist and magician came on stage to talk about his life being a magician and he loves to show people things. Things I meant is magic tricks. His 2 famous tricks are prediction of what people is thinking and bending spoon and fork. He’s cool.
Lastly, we got Fellest Yan to talk about Hip Hop and culture. I love to dance, but I don’t know how to dance.
A group shot with everyone before going home. Sadly, the dinner was not served. Anyway, H Factor is still on at Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kuala Lumpur in the coming weekends.
