Volunteer for Salvation Army’s Flag Day
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 5, 2008 – 11:41 pm -Last Saturday’s afternoon, I and a few of my school’s Leo Club members offered some help to The Salvation Army on helping them to do some collection on their Flag Day. I did join something like this before two years ago, and now I got a chance to help out again. The day turns out that only of our few members came by to help out, I got no idea where were the other members.

Anyway, I’ll take it as a exercising, charity, fun work and in the mean time, doing some window shopping as well taking some photograph on the go.
We were the volunteer of the 2nd session of the flag day. Earlier in the morning, there’s volunteers already did the same thing we did. There’s a few from our school and a few from some other school. It started off dropping us at 2 of us at KOMTAR, then a few at the other side of the town. When I heard KOMTAR, Prangin Mall came across my mind, how can we not get into the mall when it’s so hot outside. Haha.
Long time ago, my friend had told me before that you can collect donations in the mall unless you get the permission from the authority and when we were in the mall, the can would be seen no where because I kept it in the mall. It’s in and out, after collecting donation for half an hour on the street, we went back to the mall to cool down and back to the street again and to the mall. Haha.
Best place to ask for donations is at the KOMTAR bus terminal where there’s a lot of people waiting for bus. We went like this, first round at bus terminal and we went for an interval break for some times, we went back to the bus terminal again.
During our own break, we went to the camera shop. MX was looking for camera lenses and since I loves camera, I went along too to check out on what he was looking for. We stucked in there for like 45 minutes, MX was actually looking for Nikon lens, the 70-300 VR and a flash, Nikon SB-600. Though, in the end he bought nothing because it was just a “test drive”.
Later at 4pm, the van came to KOMTAR and took us back to Salvation Army and there’s where we return the coin-filled can.
(Kenny, Yong Seng and MX, bloggers on board.)
Back at the Salvation Army Children’s House, we returned the can, and see kids playing basketball, I also went in to join the fun. Took a group photos of us and then I went to Gurney to meet Miss Clown!
