YE / Young Enterprise Sales Fair at Queensbay Mall

Written by Nicholas Chan on July 24, 2008 – 11:50 pm -

It was the 2nd year I join the YE or Young Enterprise program in school and this was also the 2nd time going to the YE Sales Fair which was held at Queensbay Mall, the same venue as last year’s sales fair. The year before was at Prangin Mall and I guess from now on, it’s always Queensbay Mall.

To be simple and short, it’s a bazaar that sells a lot of handmade product by young entrepreneurs like us. Hehe, truly it’s all handmade. No machines with a little bit of exception. I didn’t really stand around the stall to do the sales, it was others that did it. We actually did have a lot of salesboy at the scene, so even if me was there or not, it doesn’t make a difference.

The sales still continued. I did sell like 100bucks of product for the first day but none for the 2nd day. I was like keep speaking “Hello, take a look please, welcome and thank you”, with a smile of course.

As for the rest of the time, I was either by the my stall or just walk around with the camera as if I was the official photographer but then I was not.

And again, I met and spoke with Mr CM Lim Guan Eng again, the beloved Penang Chief Minister. When I heard he was coming to walk around the stalls accompanied with other corporate directors, I quickly go changed on my uniform, put on a tie and the my school official blazer. It’s because I just love to do sales talking, promoting and interacting with big people. Since there’s no one volunteered, so I was the one who stepped out.

Funny when he said that I spoke so well, asked me to join DAP when I grown up. Haha.

This is Mr Zhao Wei who is the artist for the Handybook. People loves to ask him to draw for the Handybook, when asking to draw on the spot, the price of the Handybook goes up from $6.90 to $10. He told me that he was quite nervous as a lot of people was looking at him when he draw. Nevertheless, he did a good job.

Frankly, we were quite playful on both of the days, I and some friends were like walking around stalls, asking silly question. Some were stunned and some did actually play back with us. All the time, they were like asking me to buy this and that, but to be true, I will never buy until the last minute. =)

This stupid shirt is insulting my height. I admit that I am short, it’s because that I’m not tall. Haha.

There’s actually mascot, it’s a birdman from a Malay school. I don’t think it’s a good idea, he’s not very well make up too and so didn’t really take up a lot of attention. I think he should wear a bigger wings at the back and flip when it’s necessary. Hehe.

Most of the stuff selling there were quite useless to me. I only fancy with some stationery like pen, notepads and some handphone straps. Say no to bookmark because I don’t really read, I only read on the screen.

For your information, there’s actually a stall selling self-written Malay reference book for Form 3. I was wondering is the information in the book is true or not? It’s most probably didn’t send into the Ministry of Education so my advice is buy at your own risk. Haha.

Penang Chinese Girl High did actually make some cute plush toys. That’s most probably girls are good in this kind of cute cute thing.

Waiting until the last 5 minutes until the sales fair officially ended, we had good a bargain and bought stuffs at cheap prices. Thanks to, our talking mouth. =)

How’s our earning? Will tell you after we are done doing the numbers. Yo! It’s a good experience and fun to join this kind of program. I was quite tired on the first day and we had good meal on the 2nd day’s night. Thanks everyone the who support us and help out.
