Starlight Night and Leo Idol of Ipoh’s Leo Forum 2008
Written by Nicholas Chan on June 6, 2008 – 12:46 am -The Starlight Night was actually one of the recent Leo Forum that I’ve attended few days ago. Team building was not that important, but the most exciting one is the Starlight Night dinner, the awards presentation and the banquet night dinner. It’s just something like dinner cum concert cum performace and social interation where you makes friends.
A pretty formal group shot of the Leo members of Leo Club of Chung Ling High School at the hotel before ferrying us to the Red Creasent Hall where the Starlight Nights dinner happened at. It was a theme dinner where everyone have to be in blink blink, shiny, glowing as a popstar.
I was actually making money at that night by selling glowing sticks. You need some blink, you need some sticks then. Besides that, it’s dark and there’s a singing competition going on or so called Leo Idol, so maybe sticks can light up the atmosphere. Yes and I have decided to donate some of my earning to the Si Chuan Earthquake Fund at that night.
The dinner was a buffet one with a lot of foods to choose from, but the food was not that important. The best part of the night was the Leo Idol final and the performance by some local artistes.
There’s actually 6 finalist in the Leo Idol. This year got big as the champion gets a sponsor from local recording company for a producing a record album. Damn cool man. Selangor has 2 finalist, Penang has 2 too, while Kedah and Perak has one. Chris (above) from USJ8 was good in singing Angels by Robbie Williams. Chinese can’t really sings English song, I am one of them, but then those with no Chinese Ed background can sings well.
There’s 2 from Penang. 1 is the champion of the Penang Leo Idol while the other one is get lucky with the wildcards which allows him to get in the final. Too bad, there can’t be 2 champion. Of course I was standing on my school side where Alvin (the one with wildcard). The other one was Jason who is currently in college right now. Too bad he did not get anything.

Why I/They didn’t think of making something out to support our school team? It’s so unsupportive man, other states were like shouting and waving banner and poster like crazy as we were just sitting there and just shout. It’s not enough man. Nevertheless, the judge won’t goes to how powerful is the supporter.
(Samuel from SMJK Sam Tet, Ipoh / Biliana from SMK Assunta, Selangor)
The final 2 goes to Alvin from my school and Samuel from Sam Tet High School, Ipoh. It’s where the competition goes one on one and 50% goes to the vote from us and 50% was from the judges who were also the judges for Digi Celebriteen. I was like going around asking people to vote for Alvin and grateful, he is the champion!
Penang Chung Ling High School just rocks the house!
There’s also performance by our local artistes like Danny One and Dave Chai from the local group Quan Nan Ban which I didn’t really know about them until now.
There’s a small dance party after the dinner, but it’s like half the group went back to the hotel and left half of the people who were pretty chun/great in dancing. Perhaps there are those club kaki (recent visitor). I am not, I can’t dance, though I still stayed and join the fun.
Overall, it’s a pretty fun night as I made money, made friends, made enjoyment too.
