Wesak Monday
Written by Nicholas Chan on May 20, 2008 – 10:16 am -Today is Buddha Day, Wesak Day, Flower Day, Chinese Holy Day and my public holiday. Last year, I told myself I gonna go to the Wesak Day parade again this year but then damn the exam falls on this 2 week and I can’t make it to the parade even though I had promise my friend. So sorry that I’ve to put their aeroplane.
A lot of study to do yet not enough of time and I can hardly concentrate on it. As usual, I slept a 2am last night. I have already been sleeping at 2 since last week, and it’s gonna be 2 until Wednesday where I can have a little bit of rest as all the difficult papers have been done on that day.
I wanted to stay at home all day long to do my study and revision but mom wanted me to go do some prayers at the temple. Ok then since it’s exam, I prayed for good results. Haha. I didn’t want to use the joss stick and just pray in mind but then seeing everyone with joss sticks on hand, I too uses the joss sticks.
The temple is near my house, it’s not really a temple actually. It’s the Buddha hall or something Phor Tay High School which is a more likely a normal high school with buddhist teachings. I was lurking around the school and there were girls asking for donation for their school building fund. They were just so annoying, mom had made a donation to them, still they keep on asking from me. Maybe I am too attractive already? Haha
People baths the little Buddha statue on Wesak Day. It had been a long time I didn’t do this, and because of the camera I was holding so it was my grandma job to baths the Buddha and take home the so call holy bath water. For drinking, for bathing, do whatever you like. It’s holy. Yeah, I used it to wash my hand, hoping that I can do well tomorrow.
Happy Wesak Day to everyone on earth!

Same to you.
Jean G:
I believe it is also known as Wesak Day. Well I guess it’s different places, different spelling. Our neighbouring countrym Singapore is using Vesak while us are using Wesak in everywhere.
