Walking up Penang Hill

Written by Nicholas Chan on May 13, 2008 – 10:05 pm -

It’s a long way from the bottom of the hill, from the road beside Penang Botanical Garden, walking up to the top of Penang Hill, highest place in Penang Island. I took part in the Climb for Environment event last week and I bought my camera along too. It’s troublesome man and a little bit heavy, cause I still have water bottle with me and extra shirt.

A path to unknown place. If I am not mistaken, the X was sprayed by my school to indicate it’s not the route for the hiking activity organized by my school.

This arrow too. Along the way, you will also see CL, ->23, sort of on the road and rocks.

Not so sunny day that was.

When you see this, you know you gonna reach the top, but actually it’s not. There’s still like 15-30 minutes to go, depends on how fast you walk.

I found an Indian temple up there and even drop RM1 into the donation box. =)

Of my influence, more and more of my friends are getting themselves a DSLR. Good move, but without the skill and knowledge, it’s useless. Sony Alpha is a good choice for newcomer by the way, it’s cheap.

I love this photo, tweaked a little bit of the colour to make it more contrast. You can see the boring expression on the face of the little girl, there’s nothing much you can do up there. Playground, eat, photos.

You can catch a nice view of Georgetown and Farlim area, though it was pretty hazy that day.

RM3 for a single way ticket for the tram down the hill. Reaching Air Itam and takes about 30 minutes. Hot and cramp. Seldom get a chance to sit. Have to stand all the way down.
