Aberdeen / Hong Kong Chai 香港仔
Written by Nicholas Chan on April 17, 2008 – 9:58 pm -It’s like already on the other side of the small Hong Kong Island. Hong Kong is not very big only, compare to Singapore, it’s smaller. It’s always the map that makes me think that it is big but actually not. I believe if you go on a city tour of Hong Kong, one of the stop for sure will be Aberdeen or known as Hong Kong Chai. It’s famous for its Jumbo floating restaurant, sampan rides and the yacht park.
I don’t really know what this floating restaurant serves. I only know that it is the largest floating restaurant in the world and it doesn’t looks like it is floating.
It’s just about riding a sampan on a river with high rise condominium on the side. The place is pretty nice and it’s windy too!
There’s SOME people living on the boats, working as fisherman. =) They travel to the land by boat taxi, and surprisingly, some with Octopus card machine installed.
The sampan ride is 50HKD per person if I am not mistaken. A bit expensive, but first time visiting here, so just pay.
Most of the people who visits here are tourist. There are no Hong Kees that are so free to come to the other side of the island. Except…
Multi-billionaire who park their yacht there like Asia Richest Man, Mr Lee Ka Sing. Future, I am gonna park mine too. *I’m dreaming*. A yacht that is prettier than his one.

I miss Hong Kong.
