Walkaround at Tai Kok Tsui and Mong Kok
Written by Nicholas Chan on March 19, 2008 – 12:20 am -On the first day I was in Hong Kong, after checking in the hotel, we took a cab to visit my auntie’s restaurant/cafe/char chan teng at Tai Chuen St, Tai Kok Tsui 大角咀 somewhere west of Mong Kok area of Kowloon.
Auntie was so kind and treated us for lunch and I ate a lot there. Since we were so full, we’ve decided to take a walk around the area.

I can feel that Hong Kong is not a big city. They have words on the road asking pedestrian to look right or left before crossing the road. This is for noobs. Haha, just kidding.

I got a map of Hong Kong at the airport which eventually turns me into a tour guide for my mom and dad. =) Next time I can bring you around already if you want to go Hong Kong with me.

We didn’t know where were we actually. Turn into this street turn into that street and we’ve turned into a open air market. It’s different from our market in Malaysia. It’s located on a lane or street but no cars are allow to pass through the street.

It sells fruit and vegetable mainly there.

At the end of the market lane, we came to Argyll Rd where you can find some shopping malls at Mong Kok area. Mom saw H&M at Langham Place and she went shopping. I was shooting outside. Seriously, it is so hot inside H&M because of the spotlight. I prefer staying outside where there’s wind and cool air.

People is everywhere. I like the traffic lights at the junction because their traffic light is special and different from here. They have a speaker mount onto every traffic light and gives out morse code liked sound which guide the blinds to cross the road.
Later, we walked to the 3 famous street in Mong Kok area, the Fa Yuen Street, Tung Choi Street (Ladies Street) and Sai Yeung Choi Street. =)

2662
Written by Nicholas Chan on March 18, 2008 – 11:08 pm -
Woot, I’ve got my number for my school cross-country run which will be held on this Friday at Youth Park - Waterfall area. The whole journey is like about 8-10km, I am not so sure about that. I am not a strong or good runner, I and friends just go there to have fun. Walk and run and walk and run and talk and walk and talk and run. LOL. Not demanding for first, only sweat it out. You know, I am a lazy person. XD
All student in school is compulsory to take part in the run in order to get a full 20 marks PE in school. Woah. Free marks, I like. =)
By the way, I plan to bring along my camera too. But it will be hard for me to “run”. I remember my brother told me that he and his friends take photo every 1km during his school cross-country run in Singapore. I’m gonna learn from them. Haha.
Anyway, you can take my number 2662 to go try your luck and buy Toto, 4D, Magnum. Didn’t win don’t find me. Hehe.

SOME stuff from Hong Kong
Written by Nicholas Chan on March 17, 2008 – 11:50 pm -Some only, I bought quite a lot of things from Hong Kong, got shirts, got shoes, got coke, got sweets. All cheap cheap one, no, not cheap, should be low price, good quality. =)
New white cap bought at Causeway Bay.
What’s this? A new bag bought at APM, Kwun Tong.
Shoes, not as expensive as Nike shoes or Adidas. But seriously, the Nike shoes are cheaper than in Malaysia. Trust me.
Got a lot of nice design too. Check out Acupuncture website. Go to Fa Yuen St, where you can find a lot of shops selling sports apparels and there is the place where you can find lots of cool shoes.

Flying to Hong Kong
Written by Nicholas Chan on March 17, 2008 – 8:31 pm -I’ll talked about before. If I have a fast connection there, I would had already posted this up last week, but I did not have a constant Internet connection in Hong Kong last week.
The day before was election, I actually planned to sleep early cause I had to wake up at 4am, have to reach Penang International Airport at 6.30am, but because of election, I stayed up late to follow the live result. Wee! New government in Penang. Congratulation.

Surprisingly, at the airport, I see a newly opened area at the check-in counter. An extension of the check-in counter but sadly, it’s still don’t look good like the KLIA, Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport with LCD TVs everywhere.

There’s a lot of people taking the Cathay Pacific flight that day, some was to LA, some to Beijing and us to Hong Kong. Did you know that AirAsia is now flying to Hong Kong from KL? Yes! and NO because it’s not flying from Penang. =(

After a long queue to check-in our luggage and get our boarding pass. We were ready to fly. Notice my name on the boarding pass, it’s too long until my Nicholas was spelled NICHO.

Camwhored a bit with my camera while having breakfast at expensive Coffee Bean.

Nice sunrise view at the airport terminal.

It’s -59 degree Celcius outside the plane. Didn’t took a nap because I had coffee. Can’t sleep. So I was just watching the shows on board. Watched CSI and House.

Soon, not soon. 4 hours later, we arrived in Hong Kong International Airport. From the arrival terminal to the custom check point is very far, so there’s a train service that took us to the place.
Mom helped took a photo of me when waiting for the train. I was in Hong Kong!

Kwun Tong MTR Station Incident
Written by Nicholas Chan on March 16, 2008 – 11:42 pm -
read the news article if you read chinese.
I was there, I was there! But nothing big happened though, nobody died, no blood, no gore, no gross, no disgusting. That day, last Friday, I went to APM at Kwun Tong. Read that it was a quite new mall, so I went to do some shopping with mom there. The MTR station is not in the underground but on a leveled platform. We’ve decided to go back to Yau Ma Tei, the place where I was staying for lunch or tea.
Bought tickets and we waited for the train to come.
Not long, the train came. We were standing at the end of the station, which will allowed us to get on to the front part of the train. Suddenly, the train came to a stop before reaching the end. I also no idea what happened that time, the driver of the train keep honking for no reason. I thought there’s a train coming in the opposite direction, but not.
People in the train cannot come out, people waiting outside the train also cannot go in.
The MTR station officer came by and ask what happened, and the driver said he saw someone fell onto the track. Then the 2 officer ran and get help. Policewomen came.
Mom was scared, she thought the train ran over a man. It will be disgusting. I’ve decided to go take a look, mom just stood there. I heard it was a kid jump down, but then I got the information wrong, it’s a man.
Kaypo, curious people all went to look at what happened. Some young girls standing there walked away and do not dare to see what is below.
Since peoples were taking photos and seeing what was below, so do I. I only see 2 MTR officers there but no man. Where he was?
From what I read from the paper, he felled and then quickly craw to the side. The train saw it from far, but when doing the emengency break, it has already move passed him. So lucky that nothing happened to the man. Pheww……..
