Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II
Written by Nicholas Chan on January 17, 2008 – 12:36 am -I just got a new toy for my lovely 400D few days ago from Matthew. It’s the Canon 50mm f1.8 prime lens. It’s good for shooting portrait and in low light since it has large aperture up to f1.8. Of course there’s better one, but this is the cheapest lens I can get, only for RM310 (RM270 + RM40 Kenko UV Filter).
DSLR is like a human, you buy lens is like buy expensive clothing for different event. Like you wear tux for some ballroom function, you wear casual when you go out for shopping. Different lenses can be used at different places and for different subject. For example, you go to the zoo, you need a telephoto zoom lens to shoot animal in far away because you can’t go near to it, or else the animal will eat you, bite you, chew you, consume you or whatever you.
My 50m f1.8 prime lens means that it only has one focal length, cannot zoom in or out.

I am now fell in love with photography already.
