Young Enterprise Achiever Showcase
Written by Nicholas Chan on October 31, 2007 – 6:28 pm -
Today I didn’t go to school, but to USM for the YE Annual Achievers’ Showcase. This is the year I first join YE so then this is my first time to this event. Teacher drove us there, and 1 thing is she don’t know the way around. Haha, need my guide to USM. =)

What is this all about? Actually, today go there is to get the award. Sadly, we, Chung Ling High School didn’t get a Champion but a 1st runner up on Best Annual Report. I tell you guys, I can feel it, next year will be us on the Champion line. Hehe. But it’s still better than nothing right?

When we were there, other friends already there.

Teacher asked us to look for food, but we don’t really know where have good food in the campus. Haha, somehow I found a Wifi connection but stupidly it need a password. =(

Event was just boring. Speech, talks, presentation was bit interesting at first but later bored again, then award presentation and speech again.
And let me present you…

Woohoo? Not very excited because we’re not on the Winner/Champion line. Anyway, it’s fun joining the Young Enterprise program. Love it, like it.

Kuan Yin Temple and Its Birthday
Written by Nicholas Chan on October 30, 2007 – 6:48 pm -Last weekend, I followed mom and dad to the Kuan Yin Temple at Pitt Street. Kuan Yin’s first name is Goddess then last name is Mercy, so it’s Goddess of Mercy. Haha. Purpose going there is to do some praying or 拜拜 (bai bai) for my brother’s A level exam that starts today.

For people who are sitting for exams, they go to pray to the Confucius at the Kuan Yin Temple. Cool huh? Hehe, last time I also got go, it was like 3 years ago during my UPSR examinations.

Cut that crap, I saw something more interesting there. So ngam (coincidently) that day is what they call the Kuan Yin’s birthday. Very surprise because I search on the Internet, Kuan Yin’s birthday is on the 4th months of the Chinese calender. Then my mom said, still got 1 more times. Cool, 3 time of birthday in 1 year.

Don’t know what is he doing. Doing somethings for the Kuan Yin Mar I guess. I think he is already tiao dang-ed (possesed).

See the white guy? Tiao dang-ed (possesed too, by god’s spirit). I know him, haha from the words on his hat, 一件发财 (yi jian fa cai), he is 大爷伯 (da ye buo / tua ya pek), or I call him tua pek. Last time, I got go to the temple to see he do the things before (tiao dang then talk to peoples, peoples will ask 4D, Toto, advice and blabla).

Outdoor shot of another guy. Hitting the floor with some sorts of leather made belt or something. Piak sound will come out when it hits the ground.

Tua Ya Pek going home or somewhere. Haha, I don’t know. It seems just so crowded that day, so many people were watching that festival or whatever it is called. Kinda cool, but the bad thing is I forgotten to bring my memory card out! If I do, I would have taken a lots of photos. Damn. XD

Noise Pollution at Gurney Plaza
Written by Nicholas Chan on October 27, 2007 – 8:31 pm -It was 11.30am morning, me, Khai Liang and Tee Jin actually went to look for part-time job at Gurney Plaza and somehow turn up we got nothing. All are not hiring any people under the age of 16, unless I lie to them. I am going to do so as my mom ask me to. Haha.
Back to the noise pollution. Gurney Plaza is having some sort of extending it’s shopping area and so there is a renovation going on. McDonalds is located just beside the construction site and damn, the noise of making holes and stuff is very annoying.

It’s like in the warfield. Noise was like machine guns. Haha. I just so want them to shut up and let us eat piecefully. =D

If you came across restaurants like McDonalds, Nando’s, ANW and some others one at Gurney Plaza, then sorry lo. You have to eat with the “nice music” playing on. Why don’t they work in the early morning on use some better gear that don’t make so much of noise? Haiyo.
And Jobs? I found a waiter part-timer, going for walk-in interview on Monday. =)

Traffic Jam
Written by Nicholas Chan on October 26, 2007 – 10:21 pm -
Long time didn’t stuck in the real traffic jam (those jam during peak hour) already after I moved to new place few years back. Today went to Queensbay Mall with friends and do some skating and whoa! It was fun and improve a little bit. Then dad come fetch me back home, it was 6 then, time when all the working people are going home. Both the highway and the roads are jam. But then this is still Penang, the jam here still can’t beat the jam in Kuala Lumpur or perhaps other big city in the world. =) And I got Pirates of Caribbean on the iPod, luckily.

Cones at Emergency Door
Written by Nicholas Chan on October 25, 2007 – 4:21 pm -Mom showed me a news that a woman fell off from the Rapid Penang bus. If you read the news, you would have know about it. Not long ago, few weeks ago I guess, a woman was leaning against the emergency door and all of sudden the door open and she fell out of the bus and bam! Dead.

Last week, I took the bus with bunch of friends and surprisingly there were cones at the emergency door. No more standing there. But so far, I take bus so many times, I didn’t even stand before, all of the time I got to sit. =D

I Am Legend
Written by Nicholas Chan on October 25, 2007 – 11:06 am -I am Legend - This is a must watch movie of the year for me and you all too! Introduce to me by Zhen Zhung, my friend of course. This year is quite a year for all those hot movies like previously Bourne Ultimatum, Die Hard 4.0, Transformer and upcoming Alien vs Predator 2 and more.
After watching the trailer for I Am Legend, I tell myself I must watch this movie in the cinema on the first day (if I could).

Well, to be simple on what is the movie about, it’s just like another Zombie movie like Resident Evil, 28 Days/Weeks Later. This is more interesting because Will Smith is the last man on earth in I Am Legend. He is immune to the virus.I found the ebook for the original I Am Legend novel on the net and currently halfway reading it. I like this kind of movie, the Resident Evil : Extinction I can’t watch because it’s 18PL.
FYI, it’ll be here on 13th December 2007 and also screening in iMax. Wonder will I be in KL that time or not, if yes, I will catch it in Imax.
