At KOMTAR Bus Station
Written by Nicholas Chan on June 14, 2007 – 2:00 pm -This is secondary bus hub station in Penang. The main one where all the Bus parked is at Weld Quay just beside the ferry jetty. All bus in Penang will go to KOMTAR. From Weld Quay > KOMTAR then to anywhere in Penang. Not exactly anywhere.

So you in Batu Ferringhi and you want to go to my school, you need to take bus 1-1 to KOMTAR bus interchange station then take another bus 2-5 to Air Itam. So KOMTAR is the only place for bus interchange.
Let’s say if you stay at A, and B is near your place, but that place only can access with other route bus, so too bad, you need to take a bus journey to KOMTAR and change a bus to B. It’s like the V word. The bottom pointed place is KOMTAR, while the 2 tops is place A and B.

Bus here very dirty and some not well maintain. All bus to and from Air Itam to KOMTAR are AC-ed, but KOMTAR to my place, only a few AC bus. Sometimes very hot. Singapore buses are cool, they have LCD screen showing Mobile TV channel and their special collecting fair feature which is like Touch N’ Go feature, just a tab when you get in and another tab you alight. No coins or cash involved. BEEP
Hopefully, 1st August, new buses come to Penang and hope the service is good. =D

Hey…are you taking about RapidPenang? I just hope it’s better than the present bus system and they do maintain their buses forever. The present buses is terrible. First year you see them rather clean. After one year, you can even find chewing gum stuck to your pants when you go home. I still think that the Malaysians here need to have more cleanliness campaign. Fine those people who litter everywhere.
