2nd Gen iPod Shuffle Hands On

Written by Nicholas Chan on November 15, 2006 – 4:36 pm -

Ladies and gentlemen, baby and elephant, she and he, auntie and uncle and all, here’s I gonna show you 2nd Generation of Apple’s Ipod Shuffle featuring 1GB flash drive, aluminum body and claimed to be world fallest mp3 player. Brother in Singapore just brought home this powerful little toy, after 1 hour of playing it, I’m gonna review it here. Of course a positive answer I got here and yes, Singapore is selling cheaper than here in Malaysia around RM50. Before starting, here’s 2 mouth watering photos taken by my brother the day he bought it at Asia largest Apple Store, iShop @ Orchard Rd, Singapore.

Packaging of iPod Shuffle, simple and nice.

The first generation of iPod Shuffle was like a bar of chocholate or the size of Kit-Kat. This 2nd generation of Shuffle has made a great improve to a very small size, just like a small rectangle eraser or smaller a lil bit than the 2″ screen of a Digital Camera. So you can now bring this toy to school without teachers or prefects notice. Hahaha.

iPod Shuffle is not mainly about how many songs in can take in and what song you choose next. It got no screen and you don’t really able to choose what song to choose next except if you memorize the song playlist. It will be fun to guess the next coming up song and you’ll start your randomize life. Bored indeed will go away because you no need to listen the same playlist ordered song again and again. And this is why they name it iPod SHUFFLE.

As you can see through the photos, iPod Shuffle will be like a clip and you may use it to work as a bookmark. So buy 1 for every book you read, haha. I am not that kind of person. Besides, you can clip it on your pocket, jacket or jeans like show on Apple website.

So, it uses iTunes Music Player to sync music to your Shuffle instead of normal mp3 player which uses the Drag and Drop Method. This is better because you can manage your playlist more well with iTunes, I used iTunes since 2 years ago eventhough I don’t have a iPod but my brother do. The special part is you don’t notice there is not a USB port, they provide a dock for you to connect to your PC/Mac, the dock will connect into the 3.5mm headphone jack. Can’t believe a headphone jack can transmit data.

Indeed this is a good player, though people will said they don’t like it because don’t have a screen to choose the songs they like. However, isn’t that fun to guess your next song? Let’s just give it a change. And this is a very nice design and tiny which is the beauty of it. The price is affordable which is RM399 in Malaysia and of course cheaper in Singapore and some other country. - Review by Nicholas C.

Chaos Scene In Japan

Written by Nicholas Chan on November 12, 2006 – 6:09 am -

Sony PlayStation 3 launches in Japan yesterday, due to shortage of Blureay chip production, Sony limit the number of PlayStation 3 release in the first week. Gamers in Japan who can’t buy just had to go back home and come back few days later or a week. PS3s in Japan already sold out in the first day. While American will get their hands on 17 November however Europe gamers had to wait untill March 2007. I wonder why Europe always so late only get their gaming stuff. Europe official PSP launched last year September while Asia already got their PSP on May 2005. According to Gamer’s Hideout store owner in Kuala Lumpur, imported PS3 60GB which will available this week will be very expensive around RM5500 with 2 games. I guess I had to wait till the price drop only can consider buying it. Still no news about Asia release, but always it will be quiet.

Accepted

Written by Nicholas Chan on November 11, 2006 – 5:24 pm -

Friday ended, all those major paper also finish already. Finally this weekend can get some rest but still not early sleep because I’ve got many DVDs to watch. Dad bought a lot and don’t let me to watch because I was having exam. So surprise that he got The Departed last week because it just release last week too. I saw daddy watch it, not cinema recording quality. This movie is the remake of 2002 Hong Kong top movie Infernal Affairs by 2 great Hong Kongites star, Andy Lau and Tony Leong. However, I haven’t watch The Departed yet, going to watch in on Sunday afternoon. Malaysian cinema classified it as 18SG which mean only above 18 can watch it, and Singapore too, this is because that too much of FUCK word is heard. Hahaha. And too, I got John Tucker Must Die. So, went to the cinema today for The Accepted, I kinda like the movie, although it wasn’t that great and it’s funny too, won’t regret if you watch it, I’m sure at least better than Little Man. SHIT, any idea? It’s a fiction college name South Harmon Institute of Technology, so they study in SHIT, hahaha, it’s part of Accepted. Friends came my place for swimming, and the security guard complained us that we were too noisy. Man! What is this? Isn’t swimming pool is a place to have fun? They built the swimming pool a special shape, not those kind like those Olympic uses, if like that one, I sure will like just swim and not kidding around. Anyway, they are getting fired real soon, because someone caught 1 of the guard turn on the air-condition in the office room and felt asleep at night. Wahahaha. Next week will be last week of school and so fast it came to the end of year. I can’t even really believe it.

Will Be Back

Written by Nicholas Chan on November 9, 2006 – 12:01 pm -

Exam is on the go, so I got not much time to blog or do podcast. Exam still got 2 days to go until it finish. Just take a break from my revision to blog this. Not that bad my exam, just normal, not really doing that great but quite sastifying I guess. So, after exam, I won’t get the result ASAP. I will get it during my holiday time, school will post it to us. If I got bad result then it will ruined my holiday. Haha, but just for few days lah. Life still had to go on what, what for feeling bad for an exam. Hahaha, hope I get a pretty result there. I hate it man, my brother in Singapore gets 2 months and a week holiday, while I in Malaysia only get 7 weeks which is not even 2 months. Why MOE Malaysia don’t want give us more holiday?? Sometimes, during holidays, we’ll feel sick of want to go back to school because there is friends to kap siao. But when went back to school, will feel like want to back to holiday again, weird huh? I get this feeling too, and I’m looking very forward to my holidays, guess a lot of stuff to do, watched a lot of blockbuster, improve my blog, podcasting, travels, and learn stuff. Cheerio, and enjoy your lovely day. My fan below me which use to cool my CPU is cooling my feet. Cool until frozen, can’t move. Haha! Will be back blogging more and podcast new episode like this weekend.

Tips : Use Live Messenger with Any Email

Written by Nicholas Chan on November 6, 2006 – 4:35 pm -

In school, Tett asked me how to use his Gmail account to sign in with Live Messenger or previously known as MSN Messenger. So, FYI Live Messenger/Windows Messenger users out there or wannabe user, it does not require a MSN/Hotmail account to login. Even though I used my Hotmail to login, it was like 7 years ago I first had my yikyeou@hotmail.com. You can register your personal email with Passport and later your email will be a Passport account. So, everytime a site need a .Net Passport, you can sign in with your own email instead of creating a new Hotmail.

ZUNE ZUNE

Written by Nicholas Chan on November 6, 2006 – 3:30 pm -

Are you ready for the upcoming Ipod rival, Microsoft ZUNE? Zune is going to rock your word at 14th November 2006 releasing in United States first. No news of the release date outside of U.S. yet, but I know store here sure will illegally import it in and the price would not be the same, won’t be lower but higher. I recommend you get from a reliable store or wait for Asia release of MS Zune. This Zune is almost same like 5th/5.5 Generation Ipod but there are new feature which the current Ipod don’t have. It features a 3.0″ LCD Screen (Apple’s Ipod only gets a 2.5″ Screen but rumors saying that a full screen Ipod going to annouce soon), 30GB of capacity, video/photos playback, as well as mp3, wma, aac. The special features which an Ipod don’t have is it has build in Wireless connectivity with 802.11b/g WiFi for sharing playlist and songs with other Zune owner and maybe Internet Radio will appear on Zune. Though, Zune does not allow song transferring, as I mentioned song sharing is you are able to listen to the song from other Zune at a limit period. This Zune will cost only 249USD at the price RM9xx in Malaysia, having the same price as current Ipod. Microsoft first start on portable media device and this is not a bad start.

5.5 Gen Ipod or this Microsoft Zune?
I’ll go for Zune as both are also at the same price but Zune offer a bigger screen and wireless connectivity. However, sorry for Apple Music Store owner as Zune will not support songs that bought via Apple Music Store.

Zune Site is up and running : Link
