Happy 49th Birthday Malaysia!!
Written by Nicholas Chan on August 31, 2006 – 3:17 am -Malaysia as we know it today is a thriving developing country, often considered a “role model” by its Southeast Asian neighbours for its economic and political stability, multicultural harmony and steady progress. 31st August 2006 marks the 49th year of this country’s independence from British colonialism and the day the joyful, triumphant shouts of “Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka!” resonated throughout the nation as Malaya’s first Prime Minister, Allahyarham Tunku Abdul Rahman stood on a podium at Merdeka Square doing the same.
The name Malaya was then changed to Malaysia when the country was officially made a federation of 13 states including Sabah and Sarawak. Article 1(1) of the Federal Constitution states that “The federation shall be known, in Malay and English, as Malaysia”. Although Singapore broke away and became a nation of its own in 1965, the rest of the states have remained firmly together, combining to make Malaysia the harmonious melting pot of cultures it is today.

Normal Caps - First of all, I gonna say Happy Birthday to Malaysia, or Happy Merdeka Day to everyone. “Merdeka” is a Malay word, meaning Independence. When Malaysia got their independence on 31st August 1957 and so today is Malaysia’s 49th Birthday. I had already done 2 podcast on National Day, and if I still got time, I may do 1 more podcast, the National Day Edition. Hahaha. I slept late, really really late last night, around x o’clock and then I woke up very early, not very actually, haha, woke up at 9am today, and then I went to Yum Cha with my family and relatives because today is a public holiday. Not-as-usual, today, I gonna stay at home, and play computer games and watch those DVDs that I bought which I haven’t watch, also do my school works and if free, do a part 2 of National Day Edition. Talking about yesterday, National Day Eve, as usual, I went to school, and surprisingly they got no celebration, WtH?!There should be a celebration in any school, maybe this they only celebrate tomorrow?I don’t know, even if got celebration, it will be boring, I guess. At 12.00am last night, from my room window, I saw the fireworks from far away, which was from Esplanade, luckily I stay in a high-rise building, so I get to see the not-very-beautiful fireworks. Anyway, I don’t see much thing in here, my dad still go to work on a public holiday, still one day public holiday, heard that next year, 50th National Day, we student will get a week holidays, wonder is a real a not. If that rumor is real, it will be way to funnnnn. Went to the bookstore and got myself two copies of tech magazine, MAX IT and T3, I like T3 because they got those sexy model holding those gadgets, haha. Both mags all together RM14 only, not expensive though, enough to update my tech news. My school’s Drama Club will having a Inter-school-drama-team Drama Competition next week, although I’m not a Drama Club member, just asking you guys who are interest watching the competition, go to the school hall next Saturday which is 9th September, special guest of the event is Gary, not Gary Chao Ge, is Gary from Malaysia’s local TV station, 8TV’s E-News. I don’t know what it call, in Mandarin, call Zhu Chi Ren, in English I think is Host of the Show. I seldom watch 8TV so I don’t very know about him. Now, I going to get my ass into uploading yesterday recorded podcast onto the net. Enjoy your Merdeka Day and Have a nice day too!
